Lions Club donates packages to CNMI’s front-liners
The Saipan Alliance Lions Club recently donated 98 care packages to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, two agencies that are at the forefront in the fight to stop the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic on the islands.
The packages were made up of healthy snacks likes oranges, apples, bananas, rice crackers, energy bars, ship biscuits, and bottles of water.
“Our front-liners are risking their lives for all of us and our club decided to bring some healthy snacks for them as a small token,” said Club president Danny Robles, adding that Bhiya Canadalla, who is Saipan Alliance Lions Club vice president, initiated the donation of care packages to CHCC and DFEMS staff.
“Kindness really matters and we are thankful that we have the opportunity to help and assist in our own little way and I hope that this global pandemic will be over soon,” said Lions Club Zone chair Al Cabael.
The care package drop-off was headed by Cabael, president-elect Anna Cabael, club secretary Donna Fronda, and members Len Angello, Dhorie Broncano, and Region 2 chair Lion Annamae Adaza. The club said the donors for these care packages were C&R Corp., Kauila Enterprises, and some club members.
Other Lions Clubs have also been handing out care packages throughout the community, especially to those who are unemployed and have been furloughed from their jobs.
