Naraja re-opens traffic docket
Superior Court Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja has issued an order that reopens the traffic docket, which means people with payable citations can now go pay their ticket and not have to appear in court.
In an order on Monday, Naraja said defendants who have been issued a payable traffic citation with an original court appearance date between March 19 and May 14, 2020, and wish to dispose of their case by paying the fine may now pay their citation.
The traffic docket was suspended for a while in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Naraja said defendants may appear at the clerk of court cashier’s window at Guma Hustisia from Monday to Thursday between 8am to 11am. He said defendants may dispose of their case at any time before their scheduled court date.
If a defendant wishes to contest their payable citation, he or she must appear at the Supreme Court on the date he or she is ordered to appear at 9am on May 21, June, 18, and June 25, respectively.
Defendants may also appear telephonically as set by the office of the clerk of court prior to the hearing date.
Naraja said any individual who has been cited with a non-payable offense must appear at the Supreme Court for their matter.
The Office of the Attorney General will serve the penal summons on such individuals, along with an information, indicating what date the arraignment will take place.
Naraja said if an individual has been cited with a combination of non-payable and payable offenses, the individual must appear in person on the scheduled hearing date and cannot dispose of the case by paying their citation at the cashier’s window.
“If uncertain, please call the office of the clerk of court at 783-9923 to verify if you have a payable or non-payable citation prior to the scheduled hearing date,” he said.
