There’s not that many restaurants south of Saipan compared to Garapan. So keeping open during the time of COVID-19 felt like a sense of duty for Pepoy’s Restacafe owner Marilou Malasarte.

“We closed for a few days after the government announced regulations that need to be followed to stop the spread of the coronavirus. But management decided to reopen after a couple of days to help feed the hungry stomachs of our…loyal customers. We also feel that we have this social responsibility to respond to their need for food,” she said.

Merienda or snacks are readily available.

Like all restaurants and food establishments in the CNMI, Pepoy’s Restacafe was also negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The impact of losing our dine-in operations has really affected our bottom line, considering that Pepoy’s just opened last year. But management is committed to continue our day-to-day operation by doing take-out,” she said.

Prices remain the same at Pepoy’s Restacafe, with one-choice meals costing $3.75, two-choice $4.75, and three-choice $7.75. Their usual Filipino menu remains the same, with dishes like dinuguan, binagoongang baboy, pork steak, beefsteak, pinakbet, and kare kare among the bestsellers.

Desserts galore are also sold at Pepoy’s Restacafe.

Malasarte reminded take-out customers to observe social distancing measures of being 6 feet apart and wearing a mask when ordering food inside the restaurant. “Social distancing is a mandate that each individual needs to follow and it makes sense. This is one way to reduce the spread of the virus and to keep everyone safe,” she said.

Aside from take-out, Pepoy’s Restacafe also does deliveries for customers not willing to venture out.

Malasarte thanks loyal customers for their continued support of Pepoy’s Restacafe. “Pepoy’s is very thankful to all our customers. The management and staff will continue to work hard to provide the food that will satisfy your taste and customer service that follows government regulations during and after we overcome this pandemic,” she said.

Pepoy’s Restacafe is located in Susupe across the intersection leading to the U.S. Post Office. It is open from Monday to Saturday, 8am-12pm. For more information, to pre-order, or for delivery inquiries, call 234-8894 and 483-8895.
