A 32-year-old woman allegedly attacked her husband with a hot frying pan and burned his shoe inside their house in Garapan on Friday morning.

Carmelita Guiao was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault, and disturbing the peace. Her bail was set at $5,750 cash. Preliminary hearing is on Jan. 9, 2012.

The victim sustained burn marks on his arms.

Superior Court associate judge Joseph N. Camacho presided over yesterday’s bail hearing. Acting chief prosecutor Peter Prestley appeared for the government. Assistant public defender Daniel Guidotti served as counsel for the defendant.

Preliminary police investigation states that Guiao repeatedly struck the victim with a hot frying pan. He tried to protect himself with his arms. He managed to take the frying pan away and asked their children to call the police.

As Guiao was talking to police officer Jason Tarkong, the fire alarm went off in the bedroom of the house. Tarkong learned that Guiao had set the victim’s shoe on fire and tried to flush the shoe down the toilet.

Tarkong smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverages in both the victim and Guiao.
