N.I.G.H.T.: Nightmare Indigestion Gastro Heartburn Tales

It was probably pickles radish and cold ice creams
that gave me heartburn what some call indigestion
it became a nightmare ruining my food dreams
my thoughts turn to puke at fried pickles suggestion
chronic dyspepsia at every single baseball game
warm beer chili dogs ketchup onions and mustard
bags of spicy hot corn chips made my mouth aflame
a fried dill pickle dipped in chocolate vanilla custard
might have been pickled eggs from the jar at the bar
or pizza and chili fries covered with cheese and hot garlic sauce
or that bag of jalapeno beef jerky I chewed in the car
the Mighty Sparrow sings “da Man With the Pepper Sauce Is Boss”
now all day and all night long burping and farting
its either heartburn or more indigestion starting.

Delicioso Daydreams

Don’t confuse delicious food fun taste with humble pies
cookie crumb crust cream puff and sweet summer berry
attraction to all ants bees wasps and blue bottleneck flies
strawberry rhubarb apple and white chocolate cherry
It is those comestibles we live by a basic staple of our life
bread rice noodles fish meat cheese vegetables and fruit
for grandpa grandma children brothers sisters and wife
potatoes baked boiled mashed smashed a staple root
a chowder a sautee a chicken broth gumbo or fricasee
pancakes with real maple syrup papaya upside down cake
at breakfast lunch dinner and snack time go inside of me
washed down with water wine or beer make no mistake
bring it all to me as I drool my big mouth open wide
and lift this food by chopstick spoon or fork to my inside.

Double Duty Daydreams

Double up on the mashed potatoes and gravy
double down on your big bet at the cockfight
double trouble bowls of beans pinto or navy
double rings around the moon last night
on that waffle cone a butterscotch double dip
on trampoline a backward twist and double flip
on the stick shift column a quick double clutch
double your pleasure double your fun gum bubble
Lily is out on the levee doing a double twist
gulp that sweet icy lemonade on the double
a double decker cheeseburger is hard to resist
here come twin brothers guarantee double trouble
both splishing and splashing in a big mud puddle.
