PHO 8 Vietnamese Restaurant located at the ground floor of Micro Beach Hotel in Garapan has been in operation since 2016. Through economic high and lows, PHO 8 which offerss authentic Vietnamese food has never ceased to serve the community—nourishing with their pho soup noodles and other dishes which include rice, meat, seafood, and vegetables.
Vietnamese food is among the favorite Asian dishes in the world and remains relatively inexpensive. It calms and sooths one’s appetite while getting a full meal in one dish because of the mixture of meat, seafood, vegetables, and rice or noodles in one bowl.
PHO 8 is considered the first and only Vietnamese restaurant in the CNMI. Owner Ta Bun Kuy, who is originally from Vietnam, is simply happy to share the food he grew up with.
“Our specialties are Vietnamese beef soup (pho), Vietnamese drip iced coffee, Vietnamese fried spring roll with vermicelli and vegetables, and fresh Vietnamese spring rolls with pork and shrimp or with vermicelli,” he said.
“We also have fried pork spring rolls which tastes better with the secret ingredients that we use for the sauce because if the mixture of the sauce is not good, you will not enjoy eating Vietnamese dish,” he added.
According to Ta, PHO 8 is currently running special promotions that would suit the budget of every individual in the CNMI. “The regular price of our Vietnamese beef noodle soup (pho) is $14, but now it is half the price and down to $7, Vietnamese iced coffee regular $4.95, price now is $2.95,” he said.
“Aside from Vietnamese food, we also serve other dishes. Our Chamorro menu is 50% off and the other menu choices that includes American, Chinese, and Filipino are 20% off. We are currently in 24-hour operations, but under the current situation, it may change from 7am to 11pm… we are open and also welcome take-out orders,” he added.
As always, PHO 8 management and staff adjust to the changing times. “We remain to be physically fit and practice proper hygiene to better serve every customer… we hope that the community continues to support local business to sustain economy,” Ta said.
“We ask the community to be mindful of their safety as well by not panicking and observe washing hands regularly… just be patient, control yourself until the end of the month, and hopefully everything will go back to normal,” Ta added.
