NMI gets $366.9K for emergency anti-COVID-19 measures
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The U.S. Department of the Interior has released $366,900 in grant funds to the CNMI to be used to buy personal protective equipment such as face masks for government workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The grant is part of the fiscal year 2020 Technical Assistance Program funding, which the CNMI government regularly receives from DOI every year.
“I am pleased to provide this support to CNMI Gov. [Ralph DLG] Torres as the CNMI works to implement preventive measures during this unprecedented pandemic,” said Assistant Secretary, Insular and International Affairs, Douglas W. Domenech. “One advantage of funding provided through the Office of Insular Affairs is that we can move it quickly during times of emergency and need. We are also coordinating with our federal partners to ensure that the funding we provide is complementary and not duplicative.”
The grant will be made available through the Office of Insular Affairs’ Technical Assistance Program.
