OVR closed for two weeks

The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation will be closed for two weeks starting last March 16, 2020, in compliance with Executive Order 2020-04 (declaration of state of public health emergency on COVID-19), and as a precautionary measure.
Be advised that all appointments and schedules of meetings and trainings with OVR counselors or staff will be cancelled and rescheduled. Your counselor or caseworker will be contacting you as soon as information regarding the reopening of the OVR office is received.
“We know that there have been many concerns for the health and welfare of older adults and people with disabilities as well as yourself, people in your family, the community and the workplace regarding COVID-19. While the immediate risk of infection with COVID-19 for many in the CNMI is low since there are no confirmed cases, protecting the health and safety of at-risk populations is important to us all, therefore preventative measures are critical,” said the agency in a statement.
OVR would like to share a resource on COVID-19 developed by Green Mountain Self-advocates for individuals with ID/DD. This resource is an eight-page booklet about the coronavirus written in plain language. It was created by and for people with developmental disabilities. It focuses on “need to know” information: https://selfadvocacyinfo.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Plain-Language-Information-on-Coronavirus.pdf. We ask that you share these resources with your friends and family.  Below are links that may be useful for employers and businesses when questions arise in the workplace.

USCIS closing offices to the public March 18-April 1

Effective yesterday, March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is suspending in-person services at its field offices, asylum offices and Application Support Centers to help slow the spread of coronavirus disease, OVID-19. This suspension of services will be effective until at least April 1. In the meantime, USCIS will provide limited emergency services. Call the Contact Center for assistance with emergency services.
USCIS field offices will send notices to applicants and petitioners with scheduled appointments and naturalization ceremonies impacted by this closure. USCIS asylum offices will send interview cancellation notices and automatically reschedule asylum interviews. When the interview is rescheduled, asylum applicants will receive a new interview notice with the new time, date and location of the interview. When USCIS again resumes normal operations, USCIS will automatically reschedule ASC appointments due to the office closure. You will receive a new appointment letter in the mail. Individuals who had InfoPass or other appointments must reschedule through the USCIS Contact Center once field offices are open to the public again. Please check to see if your field office has been reopened before reaching out to the USCIS Contact Center.
Education and precautions are the strongest tools against infection. Get the latest facts by visiting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID-19 website. Continue to practice good health habits, refrain from handshakes or hugs as greetings, and wash hands and clean surfaces appropriately.
USCIS will provide further updates as the situation develops and will continue to follow CDC guidance. Visit uscis.gov/coronavirus for updates. (PR)

AMP amends operations; closes visitor center

The American Memorial Park is announcing modifications to operations to implement the latest guidance from the White House, Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, and local and state authorities to promote social distancing.
As of yesterday, March 18, 2020, the park visitor center is closed until further notice. All educational programs and special events are postponed until further notice. Permits for large gatherings will also not be issued. Where it is possible to adhere to the latest health guidance, visitors may continue to enjoy Micro Beach, the memorials, walking paths, tennis courts and open spaces in the park.
“The health and safety of our visitors, employees, volunteers, and partners at American Memorial Park is our number one priority,” said the National Park Service, which runs the park, in a statement yesterday.
It said that NPS is working with the federal, state, and local authorities to closely monitor the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19, situation. “We will notify the public when we resume full operations and provide updates on our website and social media channels.”
NPS urges visitors to do their part when visiting a park and to follow CDC guidance to prevent the spread of infectious diseases by maintaining a safe distance between yourself and other groups; washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds; avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; covering your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze; and most importantly, staying home if you feel sick.
For high-risk populations, such as the elderly and people with underlying conditions, we ask that they take extra caution and follow CDC guidance for those at higher risk of serious illness.
Updates about NPS operations will be posted on www.nps.gov/coronavirus. Check nps.gov/amme for specific details about park operations or follow @americanmemorialpark. (PR)
