Rendezvous opens atop Saipan Vegas
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
That appears to be the marching orders of friends Marvin Deocares, Boy Ching, and Leo Canedo when they opened Rendezvous International Cuisine last week.
Located on the newly built second floor of Saipan Vegas along Beach Road in Chalan Kiya, Rendezvous held its promotional opening last Friday amidst the economic downturn the CNMI is experiencing brought about by the coronavirus outbreak.
To help with the uncertain times, Rendezvous is offering 30% off on its breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets throughout the rest of March.
That means all-you-can-eat breakfast is only $8.75, buffet lunch is $12.59, and dinner smorgasbord is $17.50.
“It’s an introductory price that will certainly give the most bang for your buck. We know times are tough, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy and live life happily anymore. That’s why we really heavily discounted our buffet offerings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” said co-owner Deocares.
Despite the low introductory price, Rendezvous’s buffet offerings are no means ordinary, as Deocares readily volunteered that their menu is comparable to what the top hotels on Saipan serve.
“Chinese, Japanese, continental, Korean, Filipino, and local cuisine we have it all and at the price you can afford,” he said.
The dinner buffet especially holds a lot of promise, as they will be serving up a lot of seafood dishes plus bottomless draft beer.
Aside from the excellent food at an affordable price, Rendezvous also boasts of a spacious dining area as it can easily accommodate 200 customers with another 100 seats available at the adjacent VIP room.
“Everything’s brand new here. The whole restaurant is newly constructed and all the tables, chairs, and kitchen equipment are new and imported from the mainland U.S.,” said Canedo.
Despite being located on the second floor of Saipan Vegas, Rendezvous is a family restaurant with groups with accompanying minors able to access the restaurant via a back entrance on the ground floor.
Ching said they expect to hold their opening in a month’s time with no less than Filipino celebrity chef Zhe Jacinto gracing the occasion.
“Zhe is resident chef for the daily program Rise & Shine in the Philippines and we are excited to have her as our guest when we celebrate our grand opening soon,” said Ching.
Currently, eight wait staff, seven cooks, and two stewards man the restaurant.
“There’s nowhere to go but up. We’re definitely facing an uphill climb with our economy heavily dependent on tourists. Let’s just say we’re preparing when the economy picks up. At least we’ve already laid the groundwork,” said Deocares.
Rendezvous International Cuisine is open from Monday to Sunday, with breakfast buffet 7am-10am, lunch buffet 11am-2pm, and dinner buffet 6pm-9pm. For more information and for reservations, you can reach Rendezvous through their Facebook page.
