As Mount Carmel School continues to monitor the protective measures the CNMI, United States, and Pacific allies have taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19, the school has implemented several preventative measures to protect its students and community.

Students, faculty, and staff members have been urged to practice frequent sanitation practices encouraged by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. These include avoiding close contact with people who are sick; touching your eyes, nose, and mouth; staying home if you are feeling ill; covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue; and washing your hands frequently throughout the day for at least 20 seconds.

Mount Carmel School has also implemented temporary policy measures for new students enrolling in the middle of the 2020 school year. The school’s short-term auditing program will be temporarily suspended until further notice. Parents enrolling their child full-time from outside the Marianas will need to provide official documentation from their country of origin stating that they tested negative for COVID-19 infection. Families unable to provide a medical record will be asked to stay home for at least two weeks and will be required to provide a health record from the Commonwealth Health Center or a private clinic. Likewise, employees that travel in from outside the Marianas will be asked to refrain from visiting the school for two weeks. While affected students and employees are away from school, they will be accorded opportunities to complete work online.

These measures will continue to be implemented until further notice.

Updates from the school will be shared on all of Mount Carmel School’s social media platforms, email, and the MCS website at www.mountcarmelsaipan.com.
