Child care providers undergo training

A total of 118 registered child care providers attended the Child Care Funds and Development under the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ 10th Annual Health and Safety Training last Feb. 22.
The event was co-hosted by the CCDF Program, along with the Commonwealth Health Care Corp. Maternal and Child Health Bureau in partnership with DCCA’S Child Care Licensing Program and Evergreen Learning.
According to CCDF administrator Maribel Loste, the training is important for childcare providers since it’ll help the growth that’s needed for high quality child care.
Margarette Aldan, who is with the Department of Public Health Services under CHCC, gave the opening remarks. Among the topics discussed were Compassion Fatigue, by Erlain Evangelista and Russelle Mae Marquez, both technical assistance specialists from the Evergreen Learning; a Pediatrician’s Guide to Keeping our Children Healthy led by Dr. Elizabeth Triche, CHCC pediatrician; a bullying awareness presentation led by Elsie Tilipao from the Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems Inc.; and a presentation on baby behavior from infants to toddlers by Eric Camacho, Women, Infants, Children program administrator.
The CCDF will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Training on Feb. 29, from 7:30am to 3pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. (Justine Nauta)
