Any questions about cancer? Watch CHCC’s Doc Talk

The Commonwealth Health Care Corp. will be livestreaming its second annual Doc Talk on its Facebook page on Feb. 20, starting at 6pm, this time focusing more on cancer treatment and prevention.
The Commonwealth Health Center’s oncologist, Dr. Peter Brett, will also be offering his expertise and advice on other health topics.
Interested people will have the opportunity to ask questions about health and wellness during the live event, but if certain people aren’t comfortable with submitting questions during the livestream, they can submit questions beforehand by messaging the CHCC Facebook page or submitting a public inquiry form on the CHCC website at https://www.chcc.gov.mp/ContactUs/contactus.php. This option will be submitted anonymously.
CHCC spokesperson Zoe Travis said that this Doc Talk is very important because people can obtain information and advice from someone who specializes in cancer. She pointed out that there is so much information out in the internet and, most of the time they’re false, hence the importance of Doc Talk because the one moderating it is actually an expert on the subject.
Due to the time limit, the questions that will be answered will be selected based on the relevance and number of questions that is submitted. It is to be noted that the provider may not be able to answer all questions and won’t be answering personal or specific health questions and won’t offer treatment advice to individuals or attempt to diagnose conditions. It is advised that you shouldn’t share personal identification information such as birthdays or medical conditions about yourself or anyone else. Doc Talks aren’t meant to replace regular doctor’s visits.
Brett is a board-certified medical oncologist who has been providing full time cancer care for the people in the CNMI since May 2019, along with the rest of the cancer clinical team: Dr. Joel Smith, Dr. John Tudela, and nurses Salome Castro and Maria Priest. Brett has also been a full-time oncologist in Northern California for 25 years.
