BREAKING NEWS: 64-hour work schedule for govt employees starts March 15

Share

The Torres-Palacios administration announced late afternoon today, Friday, the implementation again of temporary austerity measures that will cut government employees’ work hours to 64 from the regular 80 hours, effective March 15, 2020.

Press secretary Kevin Bautista said the CNMI retirees’ pensions remain unaffected.

This means business hours for departments and agencies under the Executive Branch will be closed during every Friday beginning March 20 until further notice. There was no immediate word from semi-autonomous government agencies or government agencies that are not under the Executive Branch.

Bautista said the directive is a result of lingering economic effects of Super Typhoon Yutu and the substantial adverse impact of the coronavirus outbreak in China.
