Over 100 visiting students from South Korea participated in the Saipan International School’s annual sports day last Wednesday.

According to SIS headmaster Ron Snyder, SIS hosted over 100 exchange students this month, ending with SIS’ annual sports day at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

Snyder said most of the visiting students are on school holidays in Korea and, together with the SIS students, had a rigorous sports day that was full of challenging outdoor physical education. Events included a hula-hoop challenge, softball roll; 400-meter, 200-meter, and 100-meter races; long jump, and jump rope, among other activities.

SIS’ first through fifth grade participated in the activities, which were organized by fourth grade teacher David Steinberg.

The event ended with an award ceremony, with ribbons presented to all first and second place finishers for each class in each event.

Snyder thanked Northern Marianas Athletics and the staff at Ada Gym for volunteering their time to help make the event happen.
