A Resource Fair for military veterans will be held tonight, Feb. 4, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe, in order to provide information about the programs and services that are available to support veterans in the Marianas and their families. The event is free and open to the public.

The resource fair, from 5pm to 6:30pm, is being hosted by Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP), in collaboration with Veterans Affairs’ Pacific Islands Health Care System and Honolulu Veterans Affairs Regional Office

There will be special guest: acting director Kevin Amick from the Veterans Affairs Pacific Islands Health Care System, and director Sergio S. Chao of the Honolulu Veterans Affairs Regional Office. Amick and Chao handles the Pacific Region for Veteran’s Affairs office.

The fair welcomes all veterans, survivors, military families, service member or any who works with or on behalf of veterans throughout the Marianas. It will offer a wide variety of information and resources for veterans, hear feedback from veterans, and answer questions on health care or for veterans. They can approach any provider and either get immediate assistance, or obtain information on how to seek the services they need.

“This is important for our veterans, mainly because we might not have the answers to their question(s), but since our guests are coming from the main office in Honolulu, the answers they will receive will be more accurate,” said CNMI Office of Veterans Affairs executive officer Stanley T. Iakopo.

Iakopo has been in the U.S Air Force service for 20 years and just re-enlisted last December for another six years. That means he will retire in 2025. Iakopo, was appointed executive director of the CNMI VAO.
