2 women, man arrested for allegedly trafficking ‘ice’

CNMI Drug Enforcement Task Force officers arrested in the past two days two women and a man for allegedly trafficking methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.
Sharleen Arriola, 39, Shuihua Qi, 54, also known as Mindy, and Wei Meng Ling, 27, also known as Brother, were arrested for trafficking of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
Arriola, Qi, and Ling were brought yesterday before Superior Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan, who imposed a $100,000 cash bail on each defendant.
Preliminary hearing for Arriola will be on Feb. 5 at 9am, for Qi on Feb. 4 at 1:30pm, and for Ling on Feb. 7 at 10am.
DETF officer Melvin D. Cadiang stated in his report that a “cooperating source” informed them on Oct. 18, 2019, about Arriola’s drug distribution activities
Cadiang said that, according to the “cooperating source,” he/she managed to buy $40 worth of methamphetamine from Arriola at her home in Susupe last Oct. 17.
DETF officer Samylyn T. Atalig stated in her report that their “cooperating source” was able to purchase $100 worth of “ice” from Arriola during a “buy-walk” operation at her residence last Oct. 18, 2019.
Using the same “cooperating source” on Oct. 25, 2019, the task force was allegedly able to buy $100 worth of “ice” from Arriola during a second “buy-walk” operation in a parking lot of a store in As Lito.
In Qi’s case, Cadiang stated in his report that they were able to buy $1,200 worth of “ice” from Qi in the parking lot of her apartment in Garapan during a “buy-walk” operation last Dec. 19.
Cadiang said they were able to buy $1,200 more worth of “ice” from Qi through the same “cooperating source” last Dec. 20 in a parking lot of a poker arcade in Chalan Piao.
In Ling’s case, Cadiang said a “cooperating defendant” informed them last Dec. 27 that he/she was able to buy a gram of “ice” from Brother, who was later identified as Ling.
Ling then allegedly offered the “cooperating source” five grams of “ice” for $2,100.
Cadiang said they were able to buy $450 worth of “ice” from Ling during a “buy-walk” operation in the parking lot of the hospital last Jan. 9.
