Strong winds, rough seas this weekend

The public is being warned of strong winds and rough seas this week. A small craft advisory remains in effect through Sunday night.
Based on the information received from the National Weather Service in Tiyan, Guam, and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, fresh to strong east winds will continue across the region through the weekend with combined seas of 9 to 11 feet.
East winds of 15 to 20 knots will have wind gusts in excess of 25 knots. Combined seas of 9 to 11 feet are also projected within the coastal waters of the Mariana islands through Sunday night. Small craft can be blown off course or be capsized.
The EOC is advising the public and inexperienced mariners, especially those operating smaller vessels, should avoid sailing in these conditions.
Meanwhile, at 1:50pm yesterday, a report of a 5.1 magnitude earthquake occurred 58 kilometers north of Farallon de Parajos in the Northern Marianas Islands. Currently, no tsunami warnings or advisories were issued by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
