CNMI finishes 3rd in Guam

The CNMI finished third in the three-team World Baseball Softball Confederation 15-Under Oceania Qualifier held in Guam.
The Commonwealth bets officially bowed out of gold medal contention after losing to Guam, 1-4, in their final game in the elimination round last Saturday at the Paseo Stadium in Agana, Guam.
Guam eventually took the gold medal after blasting New Zealand, 12-0, last Sunday. The Kiwis took the silver. For winning the gold medal, players of the U.S. territory will move onto Mexico for the 2020 World Baseball Softball Confederation 15-Under Oceania Tournament.
The CNMI eventually finished the tournament with one win in six round-robin matches against Guam and New Zealand. After opening with four straight losses, the Commonwealth boys finally hit pay dirt when they beat New Zealand last Friday.
The team, however, couldn’t sustain that momentum by losing to their rivals to south the next day. On that game, the CNMI started off well with Albert Adriano scoring in the first inning before Guam came right back with two scores in the bottom of the first for an early 2-1 lead.
Guam would continue to run roughshod over the CNMI and score two more in the sixth inning, while putting the clamps on CNMI batters to claim the victory.
Aside from Adriano, Team CNMI was made up of Melvin Tudela, Deandre Cruz, Kazu Dela Cruz, Gregorio Pangelinan, Cardi Borja, Joell Borja, Noah Aguon, Michael Tomakane, Jeremiah Suel Jr., Alvin Hocog, Dilan Santos, Jylon Sablan, Joey Sharry, Joshua Atalig, Jon Diaz, Austin Diaz, Jesse Stole, Achilles Evangelista, and C.J. Gonzales.
