Public warned of dangerous rip currents

The public is being warned that there is currently a high risk of rip currents through Saturday night along east-facing reefs of the Marianas.

Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers out to sea.

Based on the information received from the National Weather Service -Tiyan Guam and compiled at the CNMI Emergency Operations Center State Warning Point, an east swell will generate strong rip currents along east facing reefs through Saturday night.

The public is advised to avoid venturing near the reef line, especially along east facing reefs. Strong rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Stay out of the water.
