Saimar Pilot, Blue Haus rip foes

Saimar Pilot and Blue Haus earned lopsided wins in their respective games in the Masters Division of the United Filipino Organization IT&E 2019 Basketball League.
Saimar Pilot defeated PPG Paints, 102-87, last Thursday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium, while Blue Haus walloped Islander Rent A Car last Saturday, 95-60.
Blue Haus notched its fifth win in as many games, while Islander Rent A Car absorbed its second loss in three matches.
Six players scored in twin digits for Blue Haus’ 35-point winning margin. Bruce Berline and Elmer Esdrelon delivered 16 points each, Edwin Santos and Ed Diaz added 15 apiece, and Junar Guiab and Jeff Garcia chipped in 11 each.
Ed Diaz tallied 10 points in the first period, while Berline and Esdrelon combined for 12, lifting Blue Haus to a 29-15 advantage after the opening canto.
Blue Haus continued to spread the wealth in the second quarter to pad its lead to 54-28 and the unbeaten team was never threatened in the second half to keep its record clean.
In last Thursday’s game, Saimar Pilot saved the best for last, firing 42 points in the fourth frame to rout PPG Paints.
Before going all out in the final canto, Saimar Pilot was just ahead by 8 at the end of the third, 59-51. Bogs Dayrit then anchored Saimar Pilot’s breakaway in the fourth period after scoring 11 points. He finished with 18 markers, matching the team-high output of Andrew Ashburn.
Melvin Villarin, Edong Echavez, and Santos also finished in double figures for Saimar Pilot, recording 14, 13, and 11, respectively.
While Saimar Pilot drew contributions from several players, PPG Paints relied heavily on Sonny Ebuen, who posted 26 points.
