CCC executive director asks OAG to look into accountability on false attribution
Commonwealth Casino Commission executive director Edward Deleon Guerrero recently expressed disappointment with a social media news group based in Guam that allegedly released Imperial Pacific International (CNMI) LLC’s so-called master vendors list and falsely attributed CCC as the source.
In an interview after he brought up the release of master vendors list during a recent CCC board meeting, Deleon Guerrero said every month IPI is required to submit the master vendors list to CCC as part of the regulatory requirements.
Deleon Guerrero said he was informed that there is a social media news group in Guam that published some of the older master vendors list and attributed it as being provided by CCC.
“That is absolutely false,” said the executive director, without identifying the social media news group.
Deleon Guerrero said he is going to check with deputy attorney general Lillian Tenorio as to what CCC can do.
He said Attorney General Edward Manibusan should look into this.
“If you want to publish something that I don’t know how they got a hold, but you attributed it to the commission releasing it to them, is absolutely false,” the executive director said.
Deleon Guerrero said there has to be accountability.
“If you want to publish something that is actually confidential that’s their prerogative but if you’re [going to] attribute it as the commission having released it to them or provided by CCC, that’s wrong. It’s fabrication,” Deleon Guerrero said.
He said it’s really upsetting when the publication says that a senior member of the commission who requested anonymity provided the information.
“There are no senior members requesting anonymity. They just making this up,” said Deleon Guerrero, adding that he had a meeting with all of his officials, who denied releasing the list.
“I will be discussing that with the deputy AG. Because there has to be accountability. It’s unlawful to release that,” he said.
Deleon Guerrero said he knows that the Legislature is pushing CCC to release the master vendors list.
“Perhaps maybe in the future we could, but there will be no reference to the dollar value,” he said.
