The Department of Community and Cultural Affairs held its first leadership meeting of 2020 last Jan. 3, with the department welcoming the new DCCA resident director on Rota, Dwayne L. Maratita.

This was Maratita’s first opportunity to participate in the leadership meeting, which gave him a chance to talk to all the division and program heads about the needs of Rota and how each of the divisions can work together to bring more services to Rota.

According to DCCAs Secretary Robert H. Hunter, they are figuring out ways to expand programs such as the Respite Care Program to Rota by training volunteers there to carry out the program. There are other problems such as a septic system issue at the Aging Center on Rota. They are still figuring out ways to get funding so that they can address that issue.

Maratita was appointed DCCA’s resident director on Rota last Oct. 21, 2019.
