Green Meadow School’s Student Council officers, students, teachers, and administrators visited the Man’amko Center in Garapan last Monday, distributing gifts and singing Christmas carols to its residents.
The visit is part of the GMS STUCO’s outreach program and aims to raise awareness among students of the importance of joining activities that strengthen relationships of families and the community, according to the group’s adviser, Davin Feria.
Besides performing Christmas songs for the man’amko and giving them gifts, the visitors also did a Bible service.
Jackie Limes, a community development specialist at the center, conveyed the man’amko’s gratitude for the outreach.
“We are all royalty, we are all princes and princesses because we are the children of God. On behalf of man’amko, I would like to acknowledge everyone for your efforts for visiting us here,” Limes said.
Elijah Umali, an eighth grader, said the visit was a heartwarming experience and that talking to the man’amko made him realize he has to treasure his parents more and everyone else around him.
GMS principal Milagros Songcuan said the school has long been planning to visit the center. She added that this visit will now be part of the school’s yearly activities. The GMS STUCO also promised to visit on Valentine’s Day. (AP)
