JSTA leads holiday cleanup in Garapan

In preparation for higher visitor arrivals during the holiday season, the Japan Saipan Travel Association and its tourism partners conducted a cleanup of the main tourist district of Garapan in the Marianas last Dec. 21, 2019.
Fifty-four volunteers from 18 companies and offices joined the cleanup beginning at 6:30am. Volunteers, including many children, spread out and cleaned up along both the roadside and the beach from American Memorial Park to the Carolinian Affairs Office. Joining JSTA in the beautification effort were Japan Consul Kazuhiko Ono and his wife, Masako, along with vice consul Hirotsugu Morishita and other volunteers from the consulate. The event was also supported by Skymark Airlines Inc. representatives Takashi Kitami and Masaomi Takaragi, the Marianas Visitors Authority, Himawari Kenbukan, Pacific Development Inc., Saipan Sea Ventures, Northern Marianas Dive Operators Association, CMLC Dive Shop, Islanders Net Inc., Japanese Hoshuko/School, MSC Dive, Make Sure Diving, Aqua Resort Club Saipan, Pacific Micronesia Tours, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Big Eye Dive Shop, Aqua Connections, and Saipan Sanko.
The cleanup effort netted over 200 lbs of trash. (MVA)
