Up to $1,000 reward for info on double homicide
Autopsy has yet to be done on victims
The NMI Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to $1,000 cash reward to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the arrest of the killer/s of the two women at a restaurant in San Antonio last Friday.
As this developed, Attorney General Edward Manibusan stated yesterday that their office is still looking into the matter as to who will conduct the autopsy on the victims. The CNMI used to tap the services of former Guam chief medical examiner Aurelio Espinola, who is already retired.
The Department of Public Safety said it is the Office of the Attorney General that has been coordinating the process to get a medical examiner for the autopsy.
A source said a medical examiner from Hawaii will likely to be hired. Espinola used to handle autopsies in the CNMI for many decades.
Police officer Fred Sato, the coordinator of the CNMI Crime Stoppers program, said yesterday that they are seeking public’s assistance for any tips that will help police solve the case.
Anyone who has information and wants to remain anonymous can just call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 234-7272.
Sato explained that the amount of reward is based on the reliability of the tip provided to Crime Stoppers.
He said it is during his meetings with Crime Stoppers board members that they will discuss the amount of award to be given to a tipster that provides reliable information.
Li Na Lim, 43, and Linhua Cui, 53, were found dead inside the Rice Cake Best Food Restaurant Friday morning after they were reportedly shot by still unidentified person/s.
A source said robbery was the likely motive behind the killing. Police could not find the victims’ shoulder bags at the crime scene.
Saipan Tribune learned that Lim used to work as a tour guide with Expo Tour, then she moved to another tour agency.
A year ago, Lim put up a company that took over the operation of Rice Cake Best Food Restaurant as the previous owner had moved back to South Korea.
Cui was among the pioneer garment factory workers on Saipan. She worked for a long time as a baker at Paris Croissant in western Garapan. Cui helped Lim in running the Rice Cake Best Food Restaurant.
