AK launches 2020 Toyota Dream Car contest
Atkins Kroll announced yesterday the launch of the 2020 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.
Children are often asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” or “How can you change the world if you could?” The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest opens a door for children to answer these and more questions through art and creativity. While the contest asks children to draw their “dream car,” the results represent not only the future of automobiles but also the future of the world, and a bright one at that.
“In past contests, we’ve seen cars with giant vacuums that clean the pollution in the ocean and flying cars that assist the elderly. The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest fuels the imagination of our children and encourages them to pursue their dreams. It’s important to us at AK to continue holding the contest year after year,” said Alex Hammett, Atkins Kroll president.
While Japan will not be conducting its Annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest due to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, AK has Toyota’s support to hold the contest in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands for children ages 5 to 15 years.
Last year, 388 students from Guam and over 130 students from Saipan, Tinian, and Rota entered inspiring art pieces into the contest. AK looks forward to seeing even more entries come 2020.
Students are welcome to submit their entries at Atkins Kroll Toyota in Tamuning and on Saipan. Deadline to submit all entries is 5pm on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020.
The contest is open to students in the following age categories: Under 7 years; 8-11 years; and 12-15 years. Students are encouraged to create their “dream car” using any standard drawing medium (color pencils, crayons, watercolors or markers) on an 11” (height) x 17” (width) paper with a thickness of 5mm maximum. Digital art mediums are restricted. AK Toyota is looking for hand-drawn colorful artwork that illustrates “My Dream Car.”
More information regarding an exhibition of the art pieces is pending.
