Mariana Elite’s Kevin Fitial and Purebred Guam’s Davis Harris notched two gold medals in the Art of War 14 Grappling Submission Challenge held last Saturday at the Trench Tech Gym in Garapan.

Fitial topped the BJJ Gi Absolute white belt category and also placed first in the heavyweight class of the Gi contest. The Marianas Elite fighter won the gold medal in the white belt division after beating Get Fit’s Jose Quan, while Trench Tech’s Frankie Muna rounded out the Top 3 in the competition.

In the Gi heavyweight division, Fitial prevailed against Purebred Guam’s Ollie Cruz and ZengZung’s Joshua Castro.

Meanwhile, Harris ruled two weight classes in the Gi competition. In the middleweight, the Guam BJJ practitioner defeated Rage MMA’s Vince Torres and Trench Tech’s Vince Masga. In the lightweight, Harris downed siblings Alverick and Shane Alvarez.

After falling short in the lightweight class, Shane took the gold medal in the featherweight division. Cruz and Alverick settled for the silver and bronze medals, respectively.

In other results in the Gi contest, Trench Tech’s Giovonni Taitingfong and Japan’s Misaki Kitami won their respective divisions.

Taitingfong defeated fellow Trench Tech standout in the bantamweight class, while Kitami reigned supreme in the flyweight category, winning over independent fighter Brandon Tenorio and Trench Tech’s P.J. Litulumar.

In the Gi competition, the other gold medalists were Trench Tech’s Kier Agda, Vince Masga, Isaac Han, and Lo Itibus.

Itibus took the top honors in the ladies white belt after winning against Skye Han and Louise Villagomez, while Isaac got the gold in the kids 10 to 14 age group category following his victory over Edward Diaz and Drey Rador.

In the purple belt, Masga downed Shane, while in the blue belt, Agda outclassed Mark Nuique and Taitingfong.
