In line with the Marianas Visitors Authority’s Sports Islands promotion of the Marianas, Saipan Morning Run will be held every Friday morning at 8am in Garapan beginning on Friday, Dec. 13.
The 7.6K course will start at Grandvrio Resort Saipan lobby and run through American Memorial Park, Outer Cove Marine, and Gov. Eloy S. Inos Peace Park before returning to Grandvrio. The free event is open to visitors and residents and is jointly organized by the MVA and Pacific Development Inc.
“The Saipan Morning Run is a fun, weekly fitness event that will bring visiting and resident runners together to enjoy the beautiful and clean environment The Marianas has to offer,” said MVA marketing manager Thomas Kim. “We expect this to become a very popular event for visitors as it grows, and we invite locals to join the run, as well. Everyone can show up and run!”
Instructors of the run will be local runners Ayano Braxton, a participant of numerous local races and Akiko Hagiwara, a former corporate team elite runner in Japan. The weekly run aims to increase awareness of the Marianas as a sports destination.
In Honolulu, a similar program called “SpoNavi Hawaii Group Running” meets every Saturday morning and has been running for the last decade. (MVA)
