Man allegedly beats up wife for too much social media

A woman accused her husband of strangling her and of slapping and punching her head and face more than 40 times at their home in Kagman last Friday night, saying he was angered by her constant use of social media.
The victim told police that her husband, William James Reyes Fitial Jr., kept beating her until she felt numbness in her body, that she thought she was going to die and that it was the most painful incident she has ever experienced in her life.
Police arrested the 37-year-old Fitial Tuesday morning on charges of strangulation, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.
At an initial appearance hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail on Fitial.
Preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 11 at 9am.
According to police detective Rosa T. Rios, the victim stated that she had seen Fitial getting angry over her being on social media, so she walked away from him to avoid any confrontation at their house last Friday night.
The victim said that Fitial followed her into the house, then slapped and punched her on the head and face more than 10 times.
She said she fell to the floor and felt dizzy, but her husband sat her up and continued slapping and punching her.
When she fell to the floor again, Fitial allegedly strangled her so she struggled with him as she could not breathe. She said her husband, however, seemed to have lost his mind and continued slapping and punching her head over 40 times.
Police said that Fitial later admitted in an interview that he was mad at his wife’s constant social media use and that he indeed beat her up.
Although the alleged incident happened last Friday, police only responded to the victim’s house this past Tuesday morning after receiving a call about the disturbance.
That was when the alleged victim told police about the beating that happened Friday night, that it was witnessed by their two minor children.
Police reported that the victim’s eyeballs were bloody and that the area around her eyes had black and purple bruising.
