To provide even more services to the community, Karidat Social Services is having a Christmas Rummage Sale on Dec. 21, Saturday, from 8am to 2pm, at its main office at the Sister Remedios Community Center in Chalan Kanoa.

All proceeds will support the Karidat food pantry.
“We have decided to open up a thrift shop and all of the proceeds from the thrift shop will go to restocking the food pantry,” Karidat executive director Lauri Ogumoro.

The Christmas rummage sale is Karidat’s first, where donated goods and clothing would be put on sale, for $1 per bag, to generate funds to help sustain the organization’s food services.

“$1 a bag because we are not trying to make a huge profit. We are just trying to keep our food pantry,” Ogumoro added.

“We hope to garner a lot of support from the community, for the community, especially for those who…need…food.”

Karidat also has a Christmas Giving Tree where, for every food or monetary donation, an ornament will be affixed to the tree under the donor’s name. Karidat also supports the Toys for Tots toy drive, and, as a shelter, is still helping women and children in the community.

For more information about the rummage sale, or to make a cash or food donation to the Karidat food pantry, stop by the Karidat main office at the Sister Remedios Community Center in Chalan Kanoa or call 234-6981.
