To attract more young couples to the Marianas, the Marianas Visitors Authority participated in the 2019 Global Wedding & Honeymoon Island Forum and 23rd Tian Ya Hai Jiao International Wedding Festival held on Nov. 23-24, 2019, in Sanya, China.

The exhibition is a B2B and B2C platform for Chinese outbound wedding companies and overseas island tourism boards, travel agencies, hotels, resorts and scenic spots to exchange information and build partnerships. About 1,530 consumers attended the event.

“The 2019 Global Wedding & Honeymoon Island Forum and Tian Ya Hai Jiao International Wedding Festival provided an excellent opportunity for the MVA to meet Chinese couples and entice them to have their wedding or honeymoon in the Marianas,” said MVA deputy managing director Judy Torres, who led the Marianas delegation. “With our beautiful scenery, warm tropical weather, and proximity to China, we are a perfect destination wedding location.”

The event was held at the Mangrove Tree Convention Center at Sanya Bay. In addition to having an information booth, the MVA made a presentation on the main stage of the forum to further promote the wedding resources and attractions in the Marianas. The MVA was joined by the professional wedding company Hanamitsu at the event.

The Marianas also received two awards at the event: The destination was named 2019 Global Newlyweds Favorite Wedding Destination, beating competing destinations including Bali, Malaysia, Japan, Sri Lanka, Tahiti, and Jeju Island. Torres also accepted the award for Figure of Global Wedding Destination for continued effort to promote the Marianas as a perfect wedding destination. (MVA)
