UFO to host traditional ‘Pistang Pinoy’
The United Filipino Organizations, with the Tan Siu Lin Foundation, present Paskong Pinoy 2019 (Filipino Christmas) on Dec. 15, Sunday, 11am to 8pm, at the Marianas Business Plaza grounds in Susupe.
Started in 1997, the UFO Paskong Pinoy celebrates Christmas festivities the traditional Filipino way for Filipinos on the island to get together and enjoy, to ease the sadness of being away from home during the holidays.
“Most of us consider Saipan our second home,” UFO president Mar Masilungan said. “During the Christmas season, we miss our own family back home and having this kind of event brings joy, happiness, and lessens being homesick.”
The celebration also draws hundreds of people who want to feel the spirit of Christmas the Filipino way.
The “Pera o Kahon” game show will be the highlight of Paskong Pinoy, where one lucky participant will have a chance to win $1,000.
Various activities await all participants including a choral contest, parol/lantern contest, and entertainment numbers for the crowd to enjoy, as well as a lot of prizes for raffle drawings. Raffle tickets will be sold at the venue during the festivity.
Children will also get the chance to participate in different games, in the Christmas art-making contest, and in the gift-giving.
