Admin leave for govt employees tomorrow

CNMI government employees have been authorized to apply for administrative leave tomorrow, Nov. 29, 2019.
In a memorandum dated Nov. 26, 2019, that Saipan Tribune received yesterday, acting governor Arnold I. Palacios announced that non-critical employees of the Commonwealth government may take an administrative leave on Friday.
Palacios noted that, even though it has been a tough year for the Commonwealth, there are still many things to be grateful for.
“…Our recovery and resiliency as a people are reasons to be greatly thankful for,” he said. “As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we are reminded of the hard work being done every day by our public service employees.
“During this critical time when our islands need it most, your dedication to service and your unwavering commitment are the reasons we are recovering swiftly.
“To all our government personnel, Gov. [Ralph DLG] Torres and I thank you all for your hard work and service to our community. And as we reflect on the graces we’ve received this year, let us not forget those who are less fortunate than us this time of the year; use this day as a time for giving them something to be thankful for, the feeling of knowing that someone cares,” Palacios said.
Palacios made the announcement after Torres left the CNMI for official business in Japan. In a separate memorandum, Torres appointed Palacios as acting governor since he is scheduled to return to the CNMI on Nov. 29, 2019.
Torres left for Japan to participate in the inaugural flight of Skymark Airlines Inc., which officially starts offering daily flights between Saipan and Narita, Japan tomorrow.
