Focus turns to individuals with disabilities
To promote disability awareness and ensure that individuals with disabilities are respected, the VOICES of the CNMI-Tinian Chapter and Team Koka will be joining in the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Wednesday, Dec. 4, on Saipan.
Hosted by Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the theme this year is “Promoting the participation of persons with disabilities and their leadership.” The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed on Dec. 3 around the globe.
Aside from the IDPD observance, both non-profits have also been working side-by-side in carrying out fundraising events.
As part of that, VOICES is selling ornaments in honor of those who are actively serving in the military and veterans, and in memory of those who have already passed on, our friends and families. Ornaments are $5 each and the last day to purchase is on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The ornaments will be displayed along with the Office of the Mayor’s Christmas Tree.
The 5th Annual “Glow Walk, Wheel, or Run” on Dec. 28 will have VOICES and Team Koka recognizing its top five most pledges.
The non-profits also expresses gratitude to all individuals, businesses and agencies who wholeheartedly supported
Both VOICES and Team Koka work to help individuals with disabilities become independent and respected members of the community. To support them or for questions or suggestions, visit their Facebook page or email: teamkokacnmi@gmail.com or votctinian@gmail.com.
