TanHoldings defeated Korean Football Association on Saipan twice to grab the lead in the Division A of the 2019 Spring Men’s M-League.
TanHoldings downed KFAS, 7-2, last Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center for a fitting follow-up of its 9-2 victory in their Nov. 14 duel.
Kaden Church scored three goals, while Ichiro Borja and Mark Esalan made two and one, respectively, in TanHoldings’ triumph last weekend. For their first victory, Esalan had a hat trick, while Church and Jim Kirt Maniago added two apiece, and Ichiro and Aloyzeus Angeles tallied one each.
With the pair of victories, TanHoldings improved its win-draw-loss record to 5-0-2 and dislodged All Blue from the top spot. KFAS, which drew two goals each from Hwapyong Kim and Peter Oh in the back-to-back losses, remained at the bottom of the team standings with its 1-0-5 slate.
Meanwhile, All Blue, who had majority of its players in Cambodia to play for the CNMI Boys U19 National Team in the Asian Football Confederation U19 Championship 2020 Qualifiers, returned to action with a 12-2 victory over the Old B Bank last Sunday.
John Michael Rojas and Skyler Poon delivered three goals apiece for All Blue, while Taka Borja added two. Razeff Altamirano, Joshua De Leon, John Bucayo, and Sebastian Manabat made one each for All Blue, while Panapa Peteru and Merrick Toves posted the pair of goals for Old B Bank.
In other results last weekend, Kanoa handed Island Star its first loss of the season, 7-4, to force a tie for first place in Division B.
Andruw Omelau towed Kanoa to the upset win after firing four goals. Ian Maniago registered two goals, while Markus Toves had one. Island Star, which won its first five matches, got one goal apiece from Zhi Peng Lin, Xiao Feng Lin, Ri Cheng Xian, and Kai-Jiun Ma.
