Clarity and direction!

The echo of the ’79 casino industry sailed home quietly without issue. Didn’t hear any opposition. It has landed on the shore without notice.

Business and political players that peddled it have basically gone home too. Seems their homework is done!

Through thick and thin we’ve muddled through our Holy Grail or saving grace, founded on our lasting culture of sharing. It’s the most powerful common denominator we’ve had since time begun. We’re still here, aren’t we?

As our casino floats in the open sea, Japan is setting up several cities to establish its own casino industry. It means it would cater to the wealthy and keep them at home. What’s its implication here?

Daily

Sitting alone at the dirty kitchen at dawn, I’d wait for the neighbors to turn off their lights before I follow suit. It’s also the time to check the news to see what’s up both at home and at the geopolitical village.

I’d keep my hope floating in hopes of hearing an announcement in the form of a plan to move things forward. But there’s nothing up that alley. Or is a plan in progress for eventual dissemination?

Said Magoo, “Try ‘que sera’ for now!” And so I took some shade underneath the coconut tree to wait for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s.

Probing

Occasionally, the silence in the air turns intuition into the active mode. It grants time to check what’s happening near and far.

I’d ponder if there were efforts to move the needle of growth forward to improve the quality of life in the villages. Or did it slide into the usual “It’s Christmas in the islands” the old Chamorro way?

The issue is simple to discern: Look into your conscience to see if you’ve fulfilled fiduciary duty. You don’t have to employ disorienting algebraic equation to figure out the embarrassing negligence!

Ooops!

Impeachment is a serious issue that requires a sense of responsibility before inflicting ruination on the targeted politician and the reputation of our fledgling government.

The issue should be turned inward where we ask timely queries, e.g., do we need 29 half-cocked lawmakers; a huge government bureaucracy when funds wasted should have been funneled for meaningful programs for villagers?

An interesting issue often treated with the usual “not yet, already” syndrome. In brief, we see an issue requiring timely resolution but we eye it from a distance hoping some dumb volunteer steps forward. Nah! Must resolve issues on a timely basis!

Drive

I’d cruise up north on the upper artery then return via the more panoramic Beach Road. There’s no greater scenery than the calm waters that stretches out to the reef against the horizon.

There’s the colorful sunset at dusk, birds returning home after a day at sea, and boats surfing on huge waves to make it to the harbor before dark. Simply “outta sight!”

I’ve seen beautiful shorelines in other island nations north and south of the equator. But nothing comes close to the lovely shore on the front side of the island. Whether you’re on a canoe or motorized boat approaching the shore, you’re headed to paradise! What beautiful sight at sunset.

Each destination on the islands has its unique feature between the rain garden of Pohnpei and the rock islands of Belau. I’ve seen Nan Madol, supposedly the graveyard of earlier royal family. In brief, the entire region is a collection of lovely pearly isles.

Belau has so many pristine isles in what’s known as the Rock Islands where you could have a pearly rock to yourself. Fish is aplenty and the inviting blue water is where you dip to cool off.

About the only troubled visit I had was the 1974 trip to Rongelap and Utirik in the Republic of the Marshall Islands. To this day I pray for our brothers and sisters who had to endure unsolicited and destructive fatal illnesses from an arrogant experimentation.

Natting

Money or its insufficiency has gradually taken its seat here. It’s good to hear announcements to bring it under control.

Simultaneously, we turn right around and continue loose spending. Why the humiliating incoherence? Is this something we could reconcile forthwith? Or “not yet, already?”

EVERbody home?

It’s deafening the silence that spreads to the villages from Da Hills of Saipan. We’ve listened intently for some encouraging tidings that would stir some excitement of opportunities ahead. None! Is this why the Silent Night?
