McDonald’s gives to Tinian church repair

To help rebuild the parish’s church that was damaged by Super Typhoon Yutu in October 2018, McDonald’s Saipan recently donated $5,000 to the San Jose Parish on Tinian.
The donation, made last Nov. 13 through Bishop Ryan P. Jimenez of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa, will help fix the Tinian church, which sustained major damage.
“The Diocese of Chalan Kanoa is deeply grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Joe and Marcia Ayuyu of McDonald’s for their donation,” Jimenez said. “This money will be used for the continuing project to rebuild the San Jose Church. The Ayuyu family has been very supportive to the diocese and for this, I thank the family for their generosity.”
The church—with its broken windows, roofs, and doors—has to be rebuilt or rehabilitated. Rehabilitation is estimated to cost between $300,000 and $500,000, while the construction of a new one is estimated at $1.7 million.
San Jose parish priest Fr. Rey D. Rosal earlier appealed to the community for donations in cash or in-kind like cement, rebars, or any other material that would help in the reconstruction effort.
