Grace Christian Academy is still unscathed after winning two matches in the 2019-2020 Public School System Interscholastic Girls Middle School Volleyball League last Saturday at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.

The Eagles, who cruised to a 21-0, 21-0 victory over Tanapag Middle School in their debut in the league last Nov. 13, faced off Mount Carmel School 2 and Chacha Oceanview Middle School 2 and defeated both teams after only two sets.

In the match against Chacha 2, the Lady Eagles took an easy 21-11, 21-11 triumph. Versus Mt. Carmel 2, GCA played in a tough match with the Eagles notching a 21-16 victory in the first set and completing the sweep with a 21-18 win in the second.

Mt. Carmel 2 also had twin matches last weekend and pulled off a close win in its other game. The Knights eked out a 23-21 triumph over Saipan International School in the first set and needed extra points, too to edge the Geckos in the second, 22-20.

Also competing last Saturday were Dandan Middle School 1 and 2, Hopwood Middle School 1, 2 and 3, Tanapag Chacha 1, Mt. Carmel 1, Agape Christian School, and Francisco M. Sablan Middle School.

MCS 1 cruised past Chacha 1, 21-7, 21-7. The Knights made it two in a row after downing Agape, 21-17, 21-3.

Hopwood 3 also topped ACS in two sets, taking the first, 21-8, and winning an even easier second set, 21-6. Hopwood 3 went 2-for-2 last weekend after cruising to a 21-5, 21-2 win over Dandan 2.

Hopwood 1 prevailed against Chacha 1, 21-7, 21-4, while FMS also bagged a straight set victory over Dandan 2, 21-12, 21-10.

Dandan 1 came out victorious against Tanapag and Chacha 2. Versus Tanapag, Dandan 1 eased its way to a 21-7, 21-11 triumph. Chacha 2 proved to be a harder competitor as the match was played in three sets. Dandan 1 drew first blood, 21-12, but Chacha 2 tied the game with a 21-18 win in the second set. Dandan 1 eventually regained its bearing and topped Chacha 2 in the deciding third set, 15-10.

In the final match of the day, SIS prevailed over Hopwood 2 in an extended duel, 21-9, 22-24, 15-11.
