Free sakman rides at indigenous expo

500 Sails is offering free rides on its three sakman (canoes) this Saturday, at the Indigenous Cultural Expo at the Civic Center in Susupe. (CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)

The public is invited to enjoy free rides on the sakman (canoes) of 500 Sails this Saturday, at the Indigenous Cultural Expo at the Civic Center in Susupe.

The expo, which will be held this Nov. 9 from 9am to 9pm, will also feature a Kantan Isla Concert.

Three canoes will be available for rides. The canoes will be prepared starting at 9am, with the first rides scheduled for 10am. Children are welcome but not infants.

Canoes included will be: Neni, Richard Seman (named after the late DLNR Secretary Richard Seman), and the latest sakman (commissioned by Indigenous Affairs Office). The IAO sakman will receive her official name and blessing at a “Takpångi” ceremony.
