The month of November has been proclaimed as the CNMI Veterans and Military Families Month, with Nov. 5 to 11, as CNMI Veterans Week.

The occasion is intended to honor the generations of men and women of the Marianas who have served in the nation’s armed forces, including the more than 1,000 service members and veterans in the CNMI. The proclamation also recognized veterans who bore the disabilities and scars of military service, as well as the spouses, children and parents of veterans.

Gov. Ralph DLG Torres made the designation yesterday at the Office of the Governor in the presence of veterans, their families, CNMI officials, and representatives of law enforcement agencies in the CNMI.

On Monday, Nov. 11, 11am, the community is invited to celebrate Veterans Day, with a ceremony at the Court of Honor of the American Memorial Park in Garapan.
