MBP agrees to host Christmas-themed event

Christmas in the Marianas is limiting itself to 18 competitors. Children from other schools were directed to delay their tree decorating skills until next year. But, since learning delayed may actually be learning denied, the Marianas Business Plaza offers its itself to as many schools as possible as a venue to help children learn tree decoration, caroling, and Yule-time costume making. FOA auditions for Christmas production

There will be auditions this Sunday at 2pm at Marianas High School, Room C203 for the Friends of the Arts’ upcoming Christmas show “The Miracle on 34th Street.” Both adults and young actors are needed for this Dec. 26-29 production. Rehearsals will start soon after the cast is selected. Come in and try out for a role. CHamoru commission meeting set

The Kumisión i Fino’ CHamoru yan i Fina’nå’guen i Historia yan i Lina’la’ i Taotao Tåno’ (Commission on CHamoru Language and the Teaching of the History and Culture of the Indigenous People of Guam) will hold its first November monthly meeting on Nov. 7, 2019, Thursday, from 12:30pm to 3pm at the Guam Museum conference room, in Hågatña. Golf tournament fundraiser for JKPL

The 4th Annual Friends of the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library Golf Tournament Fundraiser will take place on Sunday, Nov. 10, at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort’s west course. Game format is Low Gross and Double Peoria, 2-Person Scramble (Men and Women). Cost to participate is $200 entry per team. All proceeds will help support the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and its resource and collection development, circulation materials, and library programs. Last day to register is Thursday, Nov. 7, at 5pm. (PR)

Saipan to host terrestrial conservation conference

The 3rd Annual Marianas Terrestrial Conservation Conference & Workshop will be held on Nov. 18-20, at the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort & Spa Saipan in Garapan. Registration is free and open to the public, and will include presentations on terrestrial conservation, field trips and activities such as pre-conference proa rides and Mariana swiftlet field trip, and a lizard identification trip at American Memorial Park. To register, visit marianasterrestrialconservation.org. It also includes a birding trip, tree planting for Yutu recovery, Jeffrey’s Beach tour, and native limestone forest hike.
