Douglas Schmidt’s all-around game is in full display in the ongoing 2019 Atkins Kroll Marianas International Basketball League, as he is ahead in the assists and steals departments and also averaged double figures in scoring.

The Saipan Vegas guard averaged 7.4 assists and 7.3 steals in seven games, helping his squad win its first eight games to move one victory away from sweeping the regular season. Saipan Vegas will go for a sweep next week when it faces MS Villlagomez in the last game in the elimination round.

After seven matches (Saipan Vegas did not play in its eighth match, as it won via forfeit against Aqua Resort Club last weekend), Schmidt registered 52 assists and 51 steals. He also has collected 96 points for an average of 13.7 per match, scoring in twin digits in six of the seven games he played, and recorded 54 rebounds (7.7 average).

Joining Schmidt in the Top 5 of the assists leaderboard are his teammate Coby Santos (5.5 average), AK Toyota’s Jeff Borja (5), Aqua’s Kristian Itaas (5), and IT&E’s Errol Peredo (4.6). In the steals department, Schmidt is ahead of Caravan’s’ Syd Quan (4.6), MS Villagomez’s Matt Richardson (4.5), Santos (4.5), and Bridge Capital, LLC’s Pete Lizama (4.3).

Meanwhile, The Game’s Mac Mintac is still the league’s scoring leader, while Mystique BBQ’s Jetzen Jandoc and Caravan’s Alex Standish are the top rebounders in the league.

Mintac’s average of 25.3 points in seven games paces the 24.5 of TanHoldings’ Kerwin Dayao, 24.3 of Caravan’s Ken Viray, 21.8 of Jandoc, and 21.5 of Bridge Capital’s Freddie Pelisamen.

In the rebounds department, Jandoc and Standish hold similar averages of 12 to place ahead of TanHoldings’ Michael Torregosa (11.9), Caravan’s Josh Andrew (11.4), and IT&E’s Paulo Rafols (10.6).
