US military sets multiple trainings
SANTA RITA, Guam—Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 25 will conduct training today, Oct. 28, from 4pm to 8pm in outer Apra Harbor.
The U.S. Marine Corps will conduct training on Oct. 28-29, from noon to 2pm at the island of Farallon de Medinilla.
The U.S. Navy will conduct training on Oct. 31 from 7am to 7pm at the island of Farallon de Medinilla.
This training supports aircrew combat readiness and is critical to developing the skills needed to respond to operational missions throughout the region to ensure a stable, free, and open Indo-Pacific.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be within a 12-nautical-mile radius of the island.
The Navy will also conduct training on Oct. 30 from 7am to 4pm at Warning Area 517.
Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Banks remain open. For the duration of the exercise, it is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators remain clear of the following coordinates: 13° 10”N/144° 30”E, 13°10”N/144° 42”E, 12° 50”N/144° 45”E, 11° 00”N/144° 45”E, 11° 00”N/143° 00”E, 11° 45”N/143° 00”E, and 12° 50”N/144° 30”E.
W-517 begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters.
U.S. Naval Base Guam Security Forces will conduct training on Oct. 31 in outer Apra Harbor, from 9am to 1pm. It is recommended the public, fishermen, and marine tour operators monitor the U.S. Coast Guard broadcast notice to mariners for advisories.
These types of trainings are designed to enhance the readiness of military personnel. Residents in surrounding areas should not be alarmed if they see or hear increased activity associated with the training. (PR)
