The need to boil tap water before use is no longer necessary for the island of Saipan, according to the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. in a notice last Friday.

The CUC notice said that its Water Lab collected and tested samples of Saipan’s water system last Oct. 22 and 24, 2019, and that no pathogens were found in the water system.

Tinian’s water system is scheduled for testing today, Oct. 28, 2019. Customers will be informed of the results and if the boil water notice is still in effect.

CUS customers on Saipan and Tinian water systems were notified last Oct. 22, 2019, of a precautionary health advisory and were advised to boil their water before use after Typhoon Bualoi.
