A soothing oasis in Chalan Kanoa

Traditional Thai Massage may have moved to a new home in Chalan Kanoa, but its service remains a soothing oasis to tired bodies, thanks to the expertise of its masseuses from Thailand.

“We have Thai masseuses that have been in this field for more than 15 years. Their experience, expertise, and…their customer service training makes it different from the other massage establishments on island,” said manager Jean Pascua.

In fact, she said, some customers come from distant villages just to enjoy the massages they provide, proof that its loyal customers have a high regard for its services and know they will not be short-changed.

“We have customers…from Kagman, Navy Hill, Capit[a]l Hill, and Garapan who visit our shop just to get their massage. This proves our service is better compared to other establishments. We also have customers coming from Guam and the U.S. mainland that were referred to by our…own customers,” said Pascua.

Traditional Thai Massage first opened at Pacific Islands Club Saipan more than 10 years ago. It then moved to the Sablan Business Plaza in Chalan Piao before relocating to its current address at the ground floor of the Shakir Building in Chalan Kanoa in September 2018.

Pascua said they moved to Chalan Piao after a decrease in tourists from Japan and Russia, which were the lifeblood of the massage parlor.

“They are the No. 1 market in this kind of business, especially when we were located inside Pacific Island Club hotel.”

Aside from the waning of the two tourism markets, the renewal of staff under CNMI-Only Transitional Worker program and government austerity measures have also been a challenge to Traditional Thai Massage.

While they have stopped their customer loyalty program, where 10 visits get you a free message, Pascua said that Traditional Thai Massage has future rewards plans in the pipeline.

“We are looking into tying up with other businesses where a customer who avails of our services can get discounts or free gifts. We also have gift certificates that customers can buy as a gift for their loved ones and friends,” she said.

Traditional Thai Massage is open from 2pm to 9pm every day, but is available for appointments depending on the availability of their masseuses.
