Celebrate this Halloween with Monster Mash
Kick off this year’s Halloween celebration by dressing up in your best costumes and joining in the Marianas Monster Mash of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Conceptualized as a Halloween night parade, the Marianas Monster Mash will be the first one that will be held on the island, said DCCA Secretary Robert H. Hunter.
“We tried to work this so that after the Trunk-or-Treat, or whatever anyone else might be doing, [people can] come out and march in costume in the parade. We are going to have costume contests and some other things going on at the [Thursday] Night Market,” Hunter added.
The “Walk, Roll and Dance” Parade will begin at 7pm at the American Memorial Park and would end at the Thursday Night Market at the Garapan Fishing Base. Following the parade is a costume contest, the announcement of the Scarecrow Show winner, and the Halloween Row where everyone can go trick or treating at the Street Market.
“There will be a scarecrow contest and some special booths that are specifically Halloween related,” Hunter said. “We are doing it to bring joy to the kids, to make Halloween a little bit more exciting for the kids.”
Register online at http://tinyurl.com/y53b5jj7 to participate in the parade, compete in the costume contest, decorate scarecrows for the Scarecrow Show, or to give out treats at the Halloween Row.
Registration is free and open to everyone—individuals, groups, schools, organizations, private sector, and all government agencies. The deadline to register is on Monday, Oct. 28, at 4pm.
