No damage at airports, seaports

Federal court opens; Saipan, Tinian local courts remain closed

The Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport and Tinian International Airport sustained zero damage, while seaports on both islands emerged unscathed yesterday, as Typhoon Bualoi continued to move away from the CNMI.

Commonwealth Ports Authority executive director Christopher Tenorio gave this assurance after making the assessment at the islands’ airports and seaports yesterday morning.

Saipan Tribune learned that, as early as 8:30am, there was already an outbound flight at the Saipan airport.

Meanwhile, Commonwealth Utilities Corp. executive director Gary P. Camacho said yesterday that no power pole was damaged or toppled on Saipan and Tinian.

The U.S. District Court for the NMI opened yesterday at 1pm, while the CNMI Supreme Court and Superior Court on Saipan and Tinian remained closed.

CNMI Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro and Superior Court Presiding Judge Roberto C. Naraja ordered regular business hours yesterday at the Superior Court on Rota.
