Joeten 1 downs MJD Construction
Joeten 1 triumphed over MJD Construction, 92-81, in their match in the 2018 JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation Basketball League last Saturday at the Gillette Multipurpose Gymnasium.
Joeten 1 subdued MJD, as it scored 20-plus points in each of the four quarters and threatened to pull away in the third period for the double-digit winning margin.
Ahead by only five at halftime, 44-39, Joeten increased its lead to a baker’s dozen, 68-55, with Alex Lauron leading Joeten 1’s attack in the third period. Lauron fired 14 points in the penultimate frame and drew help from Chris Lilles and Vincent Teregeyo, who combined for 8 markers.
Teregeyo then teamed up with Lauron in closing out for Joeten 1, as they scored 7 points apiece in the fourth period for the squad’s 11-point winning margin.
Lauron top-scored for Joeten 1 with his 31 points, while Teregeyo chipped in 27. Lilles also had double figures with his 18 markers.
Teregeyo caught fire early, making 10 in the first quarter that ended with Joeten 1holding a 22-16 advantage.
MJD kept Joeten 1 within striking distance in the first period behind the 10 points of Freddie Pelisamen and the former CNMI National Team player still carried his squad in the second canto.
Pelisamen remained on target in the last two quarters, but lack support from his teammates, while Lauron and Teregeyo got the help they needed to hand Joeten 1 the victory.
Pelisamen finished with 25 points.
