Chavez, Joyce on target in youth league

Kanoa Football Club’s Paulyn Joyce and TanHoldings’ Kaithlyn Chavez are the main offensive threats for their respective squads as proven in the number of goals they have scored so far in the 2019 NMIFA Fall Youth League.
Joyce collected 15 goals after Week 5 of the competition in the girls U16 age group to lead the division and the entire league. The Kanoa striker had her most goals (6) during their 8-3 triumph over MP United last Sept. 28. She logged 5 in their 11-4 victory against Matansa last Sept. 21 and four last Oct. 12 to lift Kanoa to a 5-2 win over TanHoldings.
At close second with 14 goals is Shirley’s Football Club’s Katrina Costales, while Matansa’s Jannah Casarino has scored nine goals, and TanHoldings’ Rizza Relucio and MP United’s Audrey Castro have seven apiece to round out the Top 5.
The girls U16 division started the second round of the regular season last Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Cenyer in Koblerville with each squad to play five more games to determine the fall champion and the winner of the Golden Boot trophy.
Chavez is in a good position to win the trophy, as she has registered 11 goals, four more than Kanoa’s Paul Lizama (excluding last Saturday’s results). Chavez scored in all of TanHoldings’ first four games in the co-ed U12 division, firing three apiece in their two games against MP United and versus Shirley’s FC and two in their match opposite Kanoa.
Joining Chavez and Lizama in the Top 5 are the latter’s teammate Rigel Divey (6), MP United’s William Lee (6), and the TanHoldings’ Mark Costales (5).
Meanwhile, in the boys U18 division, MP United’s John Michaej Rojas has scored six goals in four games to lead the group, while Kanoa’s Andruw Omelau is lurking behind with his five goals. TanHoldings’ Mark Esalan and Jonathan Capayas are not far behind with four and three goals, respectively, while MP United’s Oliver Lee has also delivered three goals.
In the boys U15 division, an MP United player is ahead, too with Andrew Chung getting seven so far. Kanoa’s Jaydee Jose (4) is in second place and is closely followed by his teammates Brian Lubao, Markus Toves, Ruben Guerrero, and Jim Kurt Maniago, and Shirley’s’ Gabriel Arkoh, who have three apiece.
