The Friends of the Art’s production of The Jungle Book starts this Friday, Oct. 18, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan ballroom, with four show dates that will all start at 7pm.

This play, adapted by Monica Flory from the stories of Rudyard Kipling, will be performed Friday and Saturday this week (Oct. 18 and 19) and Friday and Saturday next week (Oct. 25 and 26).

This family-oriented play, suitable for adults and youth of all ages, is co-directed by Susan Fishman-Tudor and Harold Easton and produced by Katie Hoyt for Friends of the Arts.

Taken from Rudyard Kipling’s 1894 classic stories about Mowgli, the jungle boy, from the book to Walt Disney to over 260 theater productions around the world—and now to Saipan.

The Jungle Book tells the tale of Mowgli, the Indian boy raised by caring wolves, befriended by Baghera, the panther, and Baloo, the bear, and hunted by Shere Khan, the tiger.

In this adaptation of the classic story, young Mowgli grows up believing he’s a wolf, the same as the other members of his pack. Then he learns he is actually a human and must reconcile these very different identities, and decide whether to remain with the pack, or return to the human world from which he was born. And all the while, he’s being threatened by Shere Khan, the most feared animal in the jungle.

Tickets prices for all four shows start at $5 for students, $5 for Friends of the Arts members, and $10 for adults. Purchase tickets from members of the play’s cast and at the door or reserve seats/tickets through Frank Gibson at flgibson@yahoo.com.

The public is invited to attend, bring their family and friends, and enjoy the show. The Friends of the Arts gives thanks to the Hyatt Regency Saipan and to its sponsors for their support.

The Friends of the Arts is a local community theater organization that promotes performing arts through hosting several plays each year. For more information or to make ticket reservations contact Gibson through email at flgibson@yahoo.com. (PR)
